From Corporate Costume to Creative Skin

Style was about looking the part. Like most people, I followed what seemed like the right path. I was in college, and at the time, I thought I was headed for a career in finance. So, I did what I thought I was supposed to do.

Copo

I bought the suits. Charcoal grey. Navy blue. Solid black. I got a medium skin fade and parted my hair clean to the side. Polished. Respectable. Safe. But here’s the truth: I never felt like myself in any of it. I looked the part, but I felt like I was wearing someone else’s future. A costume. Something to gain approval, not to express anything real.

Back then, I didn’t fully understand what I was doing. I just thought this is how it’s done. You dress for the job. You impress the room. But deep down, I was slowly disappearing behind a mask I didn’t realize I’d put on. And it worked. For a little while. But what’s the point of being seen if you don’t feel known?

That was the beginning of the unraveling. Of shedding what didn’t fit. And honestly, it took time. It took discomfort. It took trying on a lot of different identities, some louder than others. But over time, I started to listen. Not to trends. Not to what would impress the world. I started listening inward.

I let myself explore. I tried things that felt risky, expressive, different. I stopped worrying about whether people would understand it. I cared more about whether I did. And with every choice that felt aligned: every fabric, every silhouette, every symbol felt like I was remembering a version of me that had always been there.

I wasn’t building a wardrobe. I was reclaiming my creative skin.

Now, style isn’t something I put on to get noticed. It’s something I live in. Something I feel. My presence leads. My energy speaks. The right people feel it, and I see them too. Because I’m not trying to impress anymore. I’m just trying to express what’s true.

That’s what REVERN is built from. Not perfection. Not performance. But the return. The return to self. The return to presence. The return to the freedom of showing up as you are. No permission needed.

If you’ve ever worn a costume to survive, I see you. And if you’re ready to step into your creative skin, I’m building for you.
